Spreadsheet Lesson Plan
Learning Goals: After completing this lesson, students in 11th or 12th grade will be able to:
write data by hand and record data into spreadsheet. Students will know how to input data into rows and columns. Students will understand three geopgraphy terms, longitude, latitude, and elevation.

Description of the Topic:
High School Social Studies students, 11th-12 grade will conduct a survey and will compile the results using a spreadsheet. Using the spreadsheet, they will display their data in graphs. Then they would present their results to the class and share how they think this type of activity could be used in real life. Examples, political polls and public interests groups.

Create a bar graph and a pie chart directly in the spreadsheet using the data.

Why it is important to have a large sample size.
Why it is important to type results into a spreadsheet and double check for accuracy.
How survey data can be used to create graphs and charts.
How and why national and political interests groups use data to manipulate readers of the consumed information.

In the political world, surveys are conducted by political and national interests groups. It is important for students to see real world data and how information is collected to create a national poll. This lesson is also connected to the Google Shared Doc Lesson Plan which will be done first to determine if students opinions or beliefs were changed after the lesson.
